Out and About !

Sunday morning and it is beautiful. Blue skies and sunshine, unfortunately it is a bit windy, however it's much too nice to stay indoors.

So we decided to take Rory to Edzell Muir. It's a huge of expanse of grass in the wee village of Edzell. There's a big childrens adventure playground and picnic facilities and a favourite place for dog walkers.

En-route we stopped at a small shop where we saw they had footballs for sale. We've discovered Rory loves the football that belongs to the kids upstairs so we got him his own one today. We also saw a nifty frisbee which we got too.

When we arrived we kept Rory on his lead until we got past the childrens area. He was very interested in watching all of them. When he saw his new ball though he only had eyes for that! lol - There were some other people with a dog and a ball too and Rory went over to say hello to the dog, they were both very friendly. We continued our walk and ball throwing until we got to the far end of the Muir, then we brought out the frisbee! whoooo !! Although it was quite difficult to throw the frisbee with the wind Rory did manage to make some pretty spectacular jumps and catches.

Luckily we had taken along a big bottle of water for him and he eventually took even time out to have a hearty drink from the bowl !

He got quite excitable when there were other people and dogs around and he would start jumping around the people, however when I used the recall whistle he came back immediately. I would rather he didn't jump near people though so we have to see what we can do about that. I do feel that it was just the excitement of everything today and it is the most people/dogs he has seen all at once like that since we have had him.

Very sadly the frisbee couldn't take all the excitement and we had to retire it when it split ! Rory wasn't at all happy about that and knew we had put it into the bin and stood there as if to say "well, get it back out!" We did eventually manage to distract him with his football and the 3 of us had a game of footy with Rory occasionally stealing the ball and running off with it.

A lovely day, and Gordon and I stopped for a "99" cone on the way home.
